Who is eligible to participate?

Who are you looking for?

We're looking for participants:

  • Aged 18-65
  • Based in London and the South of England, the Midlands, North West of England, and Scotland
  • Living in a household where at least one person has an income or living alone and are currently earning an income.

We understand that households come in all shapes and sizes - partners, families, friends, individuals, and we want to work with a range of households for this research to learn more about how households are making financial decisions.

Your household can be earning income from full-time or part-time work, zero-hours contracts or causal work or self-employment.

I live alone and/or manage my money alone. Can I participate?

Yes, we’re looking for participants from a range of living and housing situations, including people who live alone or who live with other adults, such as flat mates or a lodger, but do not make any financial decisions with them. However, you would need to currently be earning an income to participate because we’re looking for households where at least one person has an income. Income can be from full-time or part-time work, Zero-hours contracts or causal work or self-employment.

My partner and I manage our money jointly, but we don’t live together. Can we participate?

Yes, we’re looking for participants who represent a range of households and living situations. We would ask both of you to complete the consent process to take part and invite you both to take part in interviews.

Can my household participate in a language other than English?

Yes, your household can participate in a language other than English. Please contact the research team at realaccounts@nestcorporation.org.uk and let them know which language you or members of your household want to use.

I’m not currently earning an income. Can I participate?

Your household can participate if at least one person who is part of making household financial decisions is earning an income. Income can be from full-time or part-time work, Zero-hours contracts or causal work or self-employment.
